The first shipment will supposedly only contain the 7-inch model and is set to arrive on January 10. It’s unclear if the $35 price has stuck or whether India’s been successful in plans to eventually drive the price down to $10 with the help of large orders and government subsidies.   • Judge Allows Subpoenas For Internet Users

    crimeandpunishment writes “A federal judge has ruled that the company holding a movie copyright can subpoena the names of people who are accused of illegally downloading and distributing the film. The judge ruled that courts have maintained that once people convey subscriber information to their Internet service providers, they no longer have an expectation of privacy.”

  • Mega-Volcanoes Might Be Detectable On Exoplanets

    astroengine writes “Could we detect a huge volcanic eruption on an exoplanet 30 light-years from Earth? Possibly, say scientists from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. What’s more, there may be an opportunity for us to spot the ashy pollution ejected into the exoplanetary atmosphere when NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope is launched in 2014.   • New Adobe PDF Zero-Day Under Attack

    Rahmmp writes “Adobe has sounded an alarm for a new zero-day flaw in its PDF Reader/Acrobat software, warning that hackers are actively exploiting the vulnerability in-the-wild. An Adobe spokeswoman described the attacks as ‘limited’ but warned that that could change with the availability of public samples and exploit code.”

But if the parameter adaptation is applied to procedural content generation, then new levels can be generated on-line in response to a player’s skill.     An anonymous reader writes “I have kept every email I have ever sent or received since 1990, with the exception of junk mail (though I kept a lot of that as well). I have migrated my emails faithfully from Unix mail, to Eudora, to Outlook, to Thunderbird and Entourage, though I have left much of the older stuff in Outlook PST files.
